As a former Head Start parent, Nancy especially appreciates all that Head Start offers to children and families. Health Coordinators for Central Texas 4C are responsible for the health services for all children enrolled in our Head Start program. She works with parents to obtain transportation for scheduled appointments, trains on preventive care, and presents programs at parent meetings and staff training events. Health Coordinator responsibilities include updating and revising plans and health procedures for 4C's Head Start program and tracking each child’s progress on receiving needed medical care. Our program also makes sure that each family has a medical “home” as well as access to dental care and insurance. She began working for 4C in 1990 as a TeacherAssistant. That lasted only one day and she was promoted to Teacher--then a year later to Teacher/Director! Talk about having to learn the job quickly! But teaching was not all that foreign to her. As a child, she used to pretend to be a teacher and her eleven brothers and sisters had to pretend to be her students. She figured if she could handle that, she might make it as teacher!
In 1995 Nancy was promoted to the position of Health Coordinator and she has been supporting the Head Start health initiatives ever since. Her educational background includes a Child Development Associate Credential, Certified Vision and Hearing Screener, Certified CPR and First Aid instructor and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. She is almost finished with her Bachelor's Degree. You can contact Nancy at 254-215-7404 or email email@example.comNancy's office is located at Dickson Head Start at 1100 S. 33rd Street in Temple.
